Analogy Exercise

We were told to do an exercise, which is hard to explain how its done! so i found an easier way to explain it. that way you will understand it perfectly. Here is how i did this exercise.

We had to choose 5 photos from what our lecture gave us and write a passage for each one of the photos. We also had to make a little mind map for the photos, so it would be alot easier to gather informations.

Here is how it turned out.

Man/Woman is like a fish, sometimes they use their stupidness to show their unreal look in places that people dont really look at anyone...

Life is like a wallet, everything from your credit cards to your family pictures are in there, if you lose it, you lose everything...

Love is like a kitten playing with a duck, a kitten might be a danger for a duck, but it holds it's hunger so it will never hurt it's love...

Pain is like an Ice cream, It will take years to get rid of those feeling, but once they are gone they are gone forever...

Happiness is like a clock, You can never have happiness forever, but you will find it again and again, it never leaves you...

Juxtaposition - Analogy

Analogy is the comparison of two pairs which have the same relationship. The key is to ascertain the relationship between the first so you can choose the correct second pair.

Analogy is divided into Metaphor and Simile.

Metaphor: a metaphor is the expression of an understanding of one concept in terms of another concept, where there is some similarity or correlation between the two.
Example: Boy, am I burned up!

Simile: a figure of speech in which two unlike things are explicitly compared.
Example: He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.

I was surfing on the internet and found a few interesting photos taken by some unknown photogtaphers. those photos clearly shows what Juxtaposition is.

Love & Chilli

Loving you is like eating Chilli
You never get tired of that taste...

Learning Juxtaposition in class

last week our lecture was teaching us about Juxtaposition. He used a game to show us what Juxtaposition is.

we had to choose 3 two digits numbers from "00 to 99".

i chose 28, 48 and 78. these were my lucky numbers. i had no idea what i was about to do so i just kept doing what our lecture was telling us.

The numbers i chose had a meaning, i just had to combine them with each other and find another word, so, it turned out to be like this.
28. Lightning wood
48. Light wood
78. Dog wood

then we had to write one sentence for each number and word.

28. Lightning wood: That old guy got struck by Lightning because he had a piece of Wood on his back.

48. Light wood: That old lady couldnt Light that Wood without matches.
78. Dog wood: That Dog brought me the piece of Wood i threw for him.

It was going well untill we were asked to draw what we wrote! that was shocking but interesting.
when we were done with that we were asked AGAIN to combine the photos and make a symbol for each one.
We did that too but that wasnt eveything. then the lecture told us to look at a photo he was showing us. it was a chilli. he asked us to write a peom about love and chilli. we did that too.

Below are some pictures of how the process moved on.

Understanding Mind Map

This is what i understood from the class. i gathered everything i was told and brought it back here. A Mind Map is a highly effective way of getting information in and out of your brain. it is a creative and logical means of note taking and note making that literally "maps out" your ideas.

all Mind Maps have some things in common. they have a natural organizational structure that radiates from the center and use lines, symbols, words, color and images according to simple, brain-friendly concepts. a Mind Map converts a long list of monotonous information into a colorful, memorable and highly organized diagram that works in line with your brain's natural way of doing things.

ane simple way to understand a mind map is comparing it to a map of a city. The city center represents the main idea; the main roads leading from the center represent the key thoughts in your thinking process; the secondary roads or branches represent your secondary thoughts, and so on. special images or shapes can represent landmarks of interest or particularly relevant ideas.

the mind map is the external mirror of your own radiant or natural thinking facilitated by a powerful graphic process, which provides the universal key to unlock the dynamic potential of the brain.

Mind Map

Here is something we did in class. we had to choose 3 names from the Mortar and Pestle mind
map and turn them into drawings. this is how it turned out.

We were told to make a Mind Map for Mortar and Pestle and also another one for ourselves. well, i never had a chance to make any mind maps before, i wasnt even sure if i was doing the right thing. Untill i stoped thinking and began the process. I wasnt sure how to start it so i attach a photo of a pair of mortar and pestle. then i started making squares. i was half way through untill i found it kind of interesting! I didnt even have anything to write at the beggining but before i knew it i recieved full of knowledge about Mind Map.

Below are the pictures of my first Mind Map and the Mortar & Pestle Mind Map.

We were also told to write a report or an essay for this topic and here it is.

It's simple but full of usage. It is made from different kind of stones. sometimes the mortar is made of wood which makes it lighter and more affordable. Back then when there was no mechanical help people invented this so they could use it for so many things. they could crush the spices into powder so it will be easier to cook or to be kept. although its small but its quite heavy and its because its made entirely out of stone. i think the reason they made it out of stone was to keep it for a long time. because smashing the mortar and pestle to each other for a long time would cause it to break.

Even nowdays it gets used for so many jobs. some still use it to turn things into powders, some countries use it to mix the food they make. Even doctors and pharmacist use this tool. as i said this tool can make things into powder so thats why its also a great tool for pharmacist. they use it to smash the drugs into poswers to make the drugs they have in mind.
so as we can see this tool has so many usage. it wasnt just made for past, it was made to be used in future as well.
